PROJECT LIFESAVER
Madison County, AL
Search times have been reduced from hours and days to minutes. Recovery times average less than 30 minutes. Project Lifesaver searches have been 100% successful! In more than 2,100 PLS searches throughout the US, there have been no deaths or serious injuries.
Currently 5.2 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s. Wandering, the most life-threatening behavior associated with Alzhemier’s, affects 59% of patients. 45% of those cases end tragically in death if the person is not located within 24 hours. It is the goal of PLS to locate these persons and return them to their families and caregivers.
Autism, which is the fastest growing developmental disability that now affects one in every 110 children, can also cause children to wander. These kids are quick; they "bolt and run", usually know no fear, and can be lost in the blink of their caregiver's eye. The Project Lifesaver program is proving equally successful for children diagnosed with Autism
Find the peace of mind that the Project Lifesaver program delivers
Project Lifesaver provides wristband transmitters at no cost to people with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Autism, Down Syndrome or other cognitive disorders when these people have a history of wandering and becoming lost.
Clients enrolled in the PLS program wear bracelets that emit a personalized tracking signal. When caregivers notify the Madison County Sheriff’s Department that the client is missing, a specially trained search and rescue team begins searching with the mobile locater tracking system.
The Pilot Club of Huntsville is proud to be partnering with the Madison County Sheriff's Department to provide Project Lifesaver (PLS) in our community.
